We are no longer destined to inherit our parent's body shape - 14/06/2010Peeking into the future to see how you will look isn't as simple as taking a look at your parents anymore. There have been some recent studies that suggest that while your genes can determine up to 80 percent of your weight and body shape, it is your physical environment and personal life choices that play a significant role in how you will look. So even if you are the spitting image of your mother or father in old family photos, it no longer means you will enter 'middle age' with the same body. When our parents, especially mothers grew up they (women) were never allowed to sweat, never passed up a piece of cake, so not to be rude to their hostess and gyms were nearly non-existent if they did exist they were for men only! Today we have grown up playing sport every weekend, working out at the gym every 2nd day, diet-meal delivery services, and so many advertisements about having the 'weight loss' solution! Experts say this distinction can make all the difference. The article I read was in "Women's Health" and it also discusses about how researchers have also discovered a gene that can affect how much a person eats. It was also interesting to read that these genes can affect how effectively you lose or do not lose weight. Now there is some evidence to proove that IT is harder for some people to lose weight. However I wished they would have discussed what options are available to these people who find it hard to lose weight and that it is not their will power that destroys their movitation, but their bodies own stubborness. To read more about this click here. Are you one of these people who feels they are losing the battel about trying to lose weight or maintain a healthy weight? I would love to hear from you and see if we can determine why your body is struggling. Contact me with your story or questions - click here.
