Health Assessments

Our Health Assessments range from a general assessment (i.e. family history, blood pressure, BMI, cholesterol etc) to a comprehensive assessment involving a complete physical and medical health assessment.  Our health assessments can be used for all levels of staff ranging from corporate executives and senior managers through to general staff.

We provide a high quality assessment that gives your staff a comprehensive representation of their current health status. Our consultants will identify areas of health risk, give guidance and support to help your staff make lifestyle modifications. We will also develop an individual plan for each staff member to assist them improve their health and wellbeing. Any staff member found to be at risk of a serious health condition will be referred to the relevant medical practitioner.

Health + Wellness Education

Our Health and Wellness Education programs are be specifically designed to address current health and lifestyle issues.  We can tailor the education session to your specific needs, requirements and audience. We can cover a range of health related topics, discuss current trends within health and fitness or discuss current research supporting exercise as a therapy to manage many conditions.  Our education programs are run by qualified allied health practitioners such as Dieticians, Exercise Physiologists and Nurses.

Lifestyle Management

This seminar covers the different types of lifestyle related diseases, risks and signs of developing such diseases (including family history), ways to prevent their onset or to slow or reverse their progression. We also provide you with tips on how to change your lifestyle for the better through incidental, occupational and planned exercise.

Stress Management

Stress is part of our everyday life.  Our bodies are constantly under stress and it’s increasing each day as more and more demands are placed on us.  Effects of unmanaged workplace stress on your organisation may show up as high staff turnover, an increase in unplanned absences, workplace conflict, reduced work performance, customer complaints, staff replacement costs, and costly workers' compensation claims. This seminar covers the many factors contributing to stress, how you better deal with stress and ways to lower stress in your everyday life – both at home and work. Our objective is to help companies and individuals achieve optimum health.

Weight Management

This education program teaches you how to manage your weight through a balanced diet and regular exercise. Facilitated by accredited dieticians and exercise physiologists we offer a multidisciplinary approach to educating people with a weight problem on how to better manage their condition through the self-management and allied health support. We provide logical, and scientifically proven advice and strategies to assist you in changing your lifestyle for the long term - we don’t offer quick fixes. You will learn how much energy your body needs each day, how to workout how much energy you’re getting each day and strategies that will lead you to achieving your weight loss goals and how to keep the weight off forever!

Diabetes Management

Whether you have been newly diagnosed or need a refresher, this diabetes education program is designed to give you the tools and knowledge you need to take control of your diabetes - and take control of your life! Facilitated by accredited dieticians, diabetes educators and exercise physiologists we offer a multidisciplinary approach to educating people with Diabetes on how to better manage their condition through the self-management and allied health support. The program covers a combination of educational and practical components designed to help patients understand nutritional principals and guidelines, improving blood glucose control, effective use of glycemic index and load, weight management and exercise strategies. The program format can be modified and changed to suit the audience. We are able to design seminars specifically for indigenous, culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities and other groups with specific needs (i.e. pre-diabetics/impaired glucose tolerance, Type I Diabetes or newly diagnosed with diabetes). Our group seminars may also target specific aspects of diabetes management or for different stages of the diabetes continuum (i.e. weight loss, managing CVD, insulin therapy in type 2 diabetes).

Lighten Up

This education program developed by Qld Health is a healthy lifestyle group program for adults who want to improve their general health. It is a 7-week program that assists people to learn how to be;

  1. More active;
  2. Prepare & enjoy healthy food;
  3. Cope with stress; &
  4. Make sustainable behaviour changes to support a healthy lifestyle.

The program can be adapted to suit the audience and there is detailed workbook included in this program, which is provided to each participant.  This workbook ensures that what they learn during this program can be continued in their daily lives and can continue to be used as a resource in the years to come.

General Health Education

These seminars are run as 2 separate sessions – one specific for women and one specific for men.  These seminars cover topics such “women/men of today”, nutrition for female/male body, exercise through the ages, breast health (women only), prostate health (men only), reproductive health, mental health and ways to get support.  These seminars are run generally as an information only format and not providing specific health information to particular people.  It aims to encourage people to start looking closer at their own health and wellbeing, and if they have concerns or questions whom they can contact to get more advice.

Group Fitness Classes

We are able to run specific fitness classes depending on the requirements and budget of your business.  Fitness Classes are a great way to increase staff morale, encourage interaction between staff and improve their general fitness.  Our classes can be run before or after work hours, or even during lunch breaks. Classes can run outdoors or indoors (at your premises or one of our clinics).  
Some of the classes we offer include;

Pilates

Pilates is a specific system of exercises. In the event of an injury the Pilates exercises can also develop and maintain strength. It has also been shown to assist with rehabilitation. In more recent times Pilates has been embraced, as it provides the specific strength and core stability needed by so many people experiencing ongoing back pain. The program includes up to 250 exercises that focus on the use of the deep abdominal muscles, correct breathing and good posture.

The exercises can be very gentle. For clients with acute and sub acute pain we design a program of exercises that does not aggravate their pain, but rather start to activate their deep stomach and back musculature to develop strength and control around their weakened segments.

Pilates is particularly recommended for individuals who suffer from back, neck, shoulder, and knee pain due to injury or poor posture.

Boxing Fitness

This new concept in fitness will make you physically stronger and aerobically fitter. Boxing fitness classes use specific boxing drills to improve coordination, reflexes, balance and upper body strength.  These classes also build self confidence, whilst increasing your cardiovascular fitness too!   Boxing Fitness is a high intensity, full body workout that will keep you moving the whole time.  So you if you are looking for a challenging class – this is the one for you!

Fitball

Core stability or Core Stabilisation refers to the long-term training of the deep postural muscles that support the spine, building a strong platform from which to launch your daily activities. The most effective method of training the deep stabilisers is to work or train on an unstable environment – such as the Fitball.

Stretching & Relaxation

Stretching should be part of your daily life as it relaxes your mind and prepares your body for everyday activity.

If you experience tight and fatigued muscles, find your flexibility isn't what it used to be or you're looking for a way to relax and unwind, then this class is for you. We use a wide range of stretches to help relax those tired or tight muscles, improving your flexibility and range of movement. You'll learn correct techniques for stretching and what stretches benefit your particular problem area. Low impact - suitable for all age groups.

Yoga

The physical exercises of yoga are called asanas and they provide a gentle stretching that acts to lubricate the joints, muscles, ligaments, tendons, and other parts of the body.  These postures, or asanas, help to tone the nervous system, improve circulation, release tension, and increases flexibility.  When performed in a slow and relaxed manner, they are designed to develop more than just the physical body, it also broadens and enhances the mental faculties. This class offers the chance to improve your mobility, flexibility and strength in low impact exercise. This class caters for all fitness levels.

Meditation

Meditation reduces the heart rate and consumption of oxygen, which greatly reduces stress levels.  It helps relax and rejuvenate each part of the body right down to the individual cells.  Meditation helps to prolong the body's period of growth and cell production and reduces the decaying process.  Meditation has been proven to minimise senility, help with sleep disturbances, reduce stress levels and lower blood pressure. Negative tendencies reduce and the mind becomes clearer, calmer and more peaceful. During the class you will also learn techniques in relaxation and meditation to assist in relieving stress.
